Keeping up with a daily skincare routine is essential to having beautiful, healthy skin. We all have different skin types and issues that we want to correct for flawless skin. By shopping at the drugstore, you can have a great skincare routine without spending a fortune. Here are some of the best drugstore skincare products and how to use them in a weekly routine.
Drugstore Skincare Products + Weekly Routine (In Order Of How To Use Them)
Before we get started, I want to give a shout out to the SkinCareAddiction subreddit. This is where I learned about skincare and what products to use for my specific skin type. I’d highly recommend it if you are just getting started in the world of skincare, want to find even more great skincare products, or are just a skincare enthusiast.
Face Wash / Cleanser
The Cetaphil Gentle Foaming Cleanser is my favorite face wash ever. I like the foaming cleanser over the original Cetaphil cleanser because I feel like it does a better job cleaning my face. This is the first skincare product I use in the morning. I also use it at night, after removing my makeup with Micellar Water, and before starting my nighttime routine.
Now that you have a clean, fresh face, you can begin the rest of your skincare routine with actives.
This article does a great job at explaining what actives are in the skincare world. Basically, actives are active ingredients in skincare products that target specific skin issues.
I have sensitive, acne prone skin, and I’m also focused on keeping my pores clean and reducing fine lines and wrinkles. (It’s never too early to start thinking about that.) These are the products that I have found that help with my specific issues.
These Stridex Acne Pads are great for anyone with acne prone skin. The active ingredient is salicylic acid, which targets breakouts in order to prevent/reduce them. I find that using this product every other day in the morning helps keep my breakouts at bay. If my skin is being particularly annoying, then I’ll use this every morning until it calms back down.
The Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Pads is of my favorite skincare products. The active ingredient, glycolic acid, works to keep your pores clean and gently removes dead skin. This is a great product for anyone getting into using actives in your skincare routine. It keeps my face looking fresh and clean.
Daytime Moisturizer with SPF
Using moisturizer and SPF are both extremely important in skincare. SPF is especially important when you are using actives in your skincare routine. Sun damage can cause a lot of skin issues and your skin can be more susceptible to sun damage when using actives.
Do yourself a favor and use SPF every single day. Your skin will thank you.
The Aveeno Positively Radiant Moisturizer is a good, lightweight daily moisturizer with SPF 30. I wear makeup most days and my makeup goes over this moisturizer seamlessly. It seems to dry fairly quickly and keeps my skin feeling hydrated.
Now to move on to the nighttime skincare routine.
Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water is fantastic for removing makeup at the end of the day. After removing my makeup, I wash my face with Cetaphil Foaming Cleanser to make sure all the dirt and makeup has been removed.
If I didn’t wear any makeup, then I skip the Micellar Water and just wash my face as normal.
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel is the perfect nighttime moisturizer. The hyaluronic acid helps rejuvenate and hydrate your skin. It’s the perfect way to calm and refresh your skin at the end of the day.

Bonus: Weekly Face Mask
A weekly face mask can do wonders at keeping your skin looking beautiful. I’m a big fan of the Formula 10.0.6 Pores Be Pure Mud Mask. Mud masks help your skin by clearing your pores. My face always feels super refreshed and clean after using this mask.
