Being a new mom is hard and wonderful and crazy. These Top iPhone Apps For New Moms saved my sanity the first few months as a mom. Between cluster feedings, sleepless nights, and holding a baby all day, it was a lifesaver to have these apps.
Some of the apps are great for baby related things and others are just for fun. It’s crazy the amount of time that I spent on my phone the first few months. (That’s what happens when you have a baby at the beginning of flu season… you stay in your house most of the time and have to find ways to entertain yourself.)
Top iPhone Apps For New Moms
#1 – Sprout Baby
This is hands down the most used baby app on my phone. It’s the perfect tool for tracking feedings, diapers, and sleep. There is a section to track baby’s medical information too. I still use this app 10 months later. It’s helping my get my little one on sleep schedule. 10/10 highly recommend downloading this app.
#2 – FamilyAlbum
My whole family uses this app to see pictures and videos of the baby. It beautifully organizes the photos into monthly albums. The photos and videos are only available to those who you share the link with so it’s more private than social media. It’s the perfect app for sharing baby photos and videos with your family and friends.
Your favorite streaming apps are a must for the early days with a newborn. You might as well binge watch your favorite shows while snuggling a sweet, sleeping newborn. I was so thankful to have a pair of AirPods so that I didn’t disturb my baby with my streaming. I kept them in the nursery in case I got stuck with a sleeping baby on me and needed a way to entertain myself. (Or keep myself awake during some of those sleepless nights.)
#4 – Instagram
Having a newborn and being on maternity leave/a stay at home mom can feel isolating. Instagram is a great place to share all the baby pictures, stay connected with your friends, and take a break from reality for a little bit. It’s also fun to mindlessly scroll through Instagram, as long as you don’t feel bad about yourself while doing it. Instagram Stories are a my personal favorite social media platform right now.
#5 – Wonder Weeks
This is the only app that I have paid for but it has been so worth it. I loved the app so much that I decided to purchase the Wonder Week book too. The Wonder Weeks are developmental periods in which babies tend to be more fussy and clingy as they learn new skills. It has been pretty accurate in my experience and has eased some of the frustration of handling a fussy baby. I enjoyed reading about the new skills babies learn and activity suggestions. It’s not perfect but I do think it’s a great resource, especially for new parents are we try to figure out this whole parenting thing.
#6 – Reddit
Reddit is great for passing the time when you are awake all hours of the night with a newborn. I felt comforted in reading posts from other new moms on r/beyondthebump. There are subreddits for every interest as well as random, funny posts to boost your mood.
#7 – Pinterest
I’m a huge Pinterest fan. It’s another great app for passing the time and looking up articles on baby related things. I’ve found some good Pins about activities to do with your baby and some encouraging posts for life with a newborn. You can find information about pretty much everything on Pinterest.
#8 – Amazon
Amazon (and Amazon Prime!) are a lifesaver during those early days with a newborn. It’s so helpful when you realize that you need something but can’t get out of the house. It’s also fun to shop for baby on Amazon and to search the daily deals.
#9 – Target
Target is another great shopping app. The same day pickup option really comes in handy when you need something but don’t want to take the baby around the store. Not to mention that they have a ton of adorable baby products. You can also use the app to download coupons for your next Target run.
#10 – Apple Podcasts
Podcasts are great for keeping your mind entertained while caring for a baby all day. There are so many amazing Podcasts nowadays. Having an app makes it easy to keep track of the ones you like and to stay updated when they have new episodes.
#11 – Libby
The Libby app is awesome! You can borrow books and audiobooks from the library on your phone. Since it’s from the library, some popular books do have a wait time, but that’s not a big deal. There are also tons of baby books that you can borrow straight to your phone.
